discover scuba diving
This amazing experience is for people who have never tried diving before, or they have tried a similar experience before but do not hold full certification. The Discover Scuba Diving package is NOT a qualification or certification, it is only an experience. To begin with you will fill in the relevant paperwork and medical questionnaire*. Then you will watch a short video about diving, the rules, the equipment, and the skills you will cover in this experience, before heading to the pool to get used to the equipment and practice some simple skills. Following the successful completion of this part we head to the ocean on a dive boat for two dives. Each dive is around 30 minutes long, where we will go to a maximum of 12m/40ft. Participants must be a minimum of 10 years old. Group size 1-4 people.
Taking your first breaths underwater using scuba equipment is amazing, but for some people it can also be a little daunting. At One Love we like to ensure that anybody trying the Discover Scuba Diving experience has the most fun possible, which is why we never rush anyone. Our passion and professionalism mean that when learning with One Love, we give you all the time you might need to make sure you feel comfortable and confident with using scuba. Our friendly and patient team are there to make your experience completely relaxed and enjoyable. When you head to the ocean after completing the pool section of the experience, your One Love instructor will be with you every step of the way, above and beneath the waves. Both fun and safety are paramount to the One Love dive team, which is why we will always strive to ensure your time with us is packed full with both. There are two options when scheduling the D.S.D experience with One Love.
Discover Suba Diving scheduling options
You can complete paperwork, watch the video and practice in the pool on a particular morning, afternoon, or evening. Then the following morning head to the ocean for the two dives. On dive day we meet at 7.25am to get sized with mask, fins and wetsuit, before heading to the boat. After our 2 dives out on the Catalinas, we return to the marina around 12noon. By choosing Option 1 you will enjoy 2 great dives out on the Catalinas. Morning ocean dives generally deliver better ocean conditions compared with afternoon dives, and a greater magnitude of marine life.
Everything is covered in one day. In the morning you fill in the paperwork, watch the video and complete the skills practice in the pool. In the afternoon we make our way to the boat for the two ocean dives. We normally meet around 9am-10am to complete paperwork and pool, and then again at 1pm to go to the ocean. After the experience we are normally back to the marina around 3.30pm-4pm. Afternoon dives do not visit the Catalinas, instead we stick closer in to shore. Afternoon dives still offer you some great encounters with the diverse marine life that we have here.
This amazing experience includes all instruction and training, equipment rental, as well as light snacks and refreshments on the boat during the ocean phase of your Discover Scuba Diving experience.
