open water certification
Take this full PADI certification course and gain access to the amazing oceanic world. Experience the stunning sights, sounds, and wonders beneath the waves. The PADI Open Water course is the world's most popular and widely recognised scuba course, and on completion you will have the knowledge, training and qualification to dive all over the world. The course is split in to three sections, Knowledge Development, Confined Water, and Open Water. The Knowledge Development part is completed at home prior to your visit through studying online with PADI eLearning, an interactive computer based study program. As soon as you sign up for the PADI Open Water course with One Love, we will email you the link to begin your PADI eLearning. This means you have the convenience of studying at your own pace, also deciding when and where you study.
Confined Water is where you will go to the pool to become familiar with the equipment. You will practice a series of skills to get you completely comfortable and confident when diving with scuba. Confined Water is made up of 5 swimming pool sessions, and this is easily acheived in a day. The final aspect to the course is the Open Water section. This is where you will complete four dives in the ocean. This will be accomplished by completing two open water dives per day, over a two morning period. During these dives in the ocean you will repeat several of the skills you perfected in the swimming pool, as well as practicing your general diving abilities and techniques. During dives 1 and 2 you are limited to a maximum depth of 12m/40ft, and on dives 3 and 4 you will explore down to a maximum of 18m/60ft. Qualification is for life and recognized in all dive destinations around the World.
To enroll in the Open Water Diver course you need to have reasonable swimming abilities, being able to swim 200m unaided and tread water/float unassisted for ten minutes. You do not require any prior scuba diving experience to begin this course. Along with other paperwork, you will need to complete a medical statement*.
You also have the option of completing a PADI Open Water Referral. This is where you sign up with a dive shop back home and complete the Knowledge Development and Confined Water sections of the Open Water course with them, before heading out to Costa Rica. Meaning when you get here for your vacation, you only have to complete the four open water dives in order to become fully certified. There are several benefits to the PADI Open Water Referral option. You have all the time you could possibly need to complete sections one and two while you are back home, and once you are here you only need to use 2 mornings of your vacation to complete your course. By taking the PADI Open Water Referral option, you leave more time available during your stay to enjoy other attractions and pursuits Costa Rica has to offer. At One Love Ocean Divers we do everything to tailor your trip to your needs.
It is also possible to study the course in a more traditional classroom approach. The Knowledge Development section is completed by watching videos, studying from a manual, and sitting the written exams while you are here. You should note that it will take 4 to 5 days to complete the course in this way. For more information on classroom study method please
